After 14 years and approximately 167,000 km, I’ve decided to part ways with my beloved car.
It’s been more than just a vehicle — it’s been a companion through countless journeys and memories.
🚗 My First Experience with Cruise Control
I still remember the first time I used cruise control, 14 years ago on a highway.
As the car accelerated on its own, I felt uneasy and quickly turned it off.
Another helpful feature was the lane departure alert — it gave a warning when I crossed the lines. Back then, it felt like a glimpse into the future. Now, such safety tech is common.
❄ Full-Time 4WD — A Winter Hero
The car had full-time 4WD. With snow tires, it handled snowy roads with ease.
Swapping tires in winter became a seasonal routine. My new car is also 4WD, though it’s a compact 1.5L — the same peace of mind, in a smaller form.
⛽ Not Fuel Efficient, But Fun to Drive
Compared to today’s eHEVs, fuel efficiency was poor — maybe half or even a third as good.
Still, the car was a joy to drive. I never had a major accident. And my wife loved it too — that meant a lot.
🧓 Changing Lifestyle and Changing Needs
Over the years, our lifestyle changed — narrower roads, tighter parking spots, slower reflexes.
Aging naturally shifts priorities, and choosing safer, easier mobility became the smart thing to do.
I do feel a bit sad. But above all, I’m grateful.
With my new car, I’m looking forward to loading up my bike again and heading off on new adventures.
