A Rainy Weekend and the Secret of Longevity Genes|Steps Toward a Healthier, Longer Life

It was a quiet Saturday in May 17 2025.
Light rain kept falling from morning, and I gave up on my usual cycling plans. A bit disappointing, but maybe just the kind of day to take a step back and reflect.

Rainy days make you slow down—and sometimes that’s exactly what we need.
Work will end someday—maybe next year, maybe even next month. I’ve been thinking more and more about life after that: maybe moving to the countryside, living simply, spending days with nature, books, and a little garden.

In the afternoon, I attended a public lecture at the city culture center.
The topic: “Activate Your Longevity Genes—Extend Your Healthy Life.”
The speaker, Dr. Shinjiro Imai, shared his research on metabolism and aging.

He introduced the Sirtuin gene, sometimes called the “longevity gene.” When activated, it helps improve metabolism and may slow down aging. But what activates it?

Polyphenols—and not just from red wine. While red wine is well-known, its polyphenol content is relatively low. Dr. Imai explained that pomegranates are much richer in the type of polyphenol that activates these genes.

He shared his own story—by drinking pomegranate juice 【PR】daily, he lost 5–6 kg, improved his metabolic numbers, and reduced his belly fat. “My body definitely changed,” he said with a laugh—and it showed.

I’ve decided to give it a try. Fresh pomegranates may not be common in stores, but pomegranate juice 【PR】 is easy to find. Why not start small? A glass a day toward a healthier future.

A rainy weekend turned out to be a gift—
not for cycling, but for resetting my path. For investing in my health, and imagining what comes next.
